Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey said that statements by the parents confirm that they were followers of a fundamentalist religious philosophy that espouses corporal punishment to “train” children to be more obedient to their parents and God.
Her 11 year old sister is also in the hospital in critical condition as a result of her hours long beating.
